Since I moved to the greater New York City area, my life has been extremely hectic between work, blogging, my brand and then work again! One of the things I noticed living in a big city which surprised me is the large number of “buddies” in homes or on the street. It really makes you wanna join the club! I always thought I would only get a pet once I had the time to actually take care of one. I’m also more of a “dog type”; and I’ve had dogs before, so I understand the amount of time and dedication you need to take care of one such as walking them, getting enough exercise, grooming etc.
It never really crossed my mind to actually think of cats as a great alternative to have a companion until I met three of the sweetest cats that my best friend had. They are so loving and friendly that I finally considered adopting a rescue. Not only am I giving a homeless pet a loving home, I now have a buddy of my own to keep me company (and FYI, cats are not as high maintenance as dogs!). Cats pretty much take care of themselves and they can be very sociable depending on their personality!
I just adopted my new cat (which doesn’t have a name yet, so please help me pick one!). For now, we can call him “Gif” (don’t worry, I’ll tell you why later!). One of my concerns in getting a cat was choosing the right food and litter for him. I didn’t know anything about cats and I’ve been bombarding my best friend with lots and lots of questions.
