I was born in the 90s and I definitely had a major influence on its fashion, trends and style during my teen years. Flared jeans, school uniform skirts, wedges and denim on every garment, were some of the main fashion trends I used to wear. There are obviously some looks I wouldn’t dare to wear again but others are still ruling my closet. Tights with shorts and skirts were a classic in the 80s – 90s and they were a fashion must when Gossip Girl was on air a few years ago.
I bought tights in all colors available when I was in college so I could wear a different color each day. The patterned ones were my favorite for dresses and high heels. I’m pretty sure you all had the kind of tights you usually wear for Halloween, my friends and I used to call them slutty tights lol, and even though the name doesn’t sound good, those were the best for any costume.
Since the clueless fashion came back recently, school-like skirts are so IN right now and available in different colors and combinations. I got mine at Brandy Melville, and this store characterizes for having this edgy but laid back fashion style on every piece they sell, so I’m confident you will be able to find a similar skirt over there! Other stores with related styles are revolve and topshop.
Wearing an old trend and being able to modernize it is so much fun! It doesn’t come out well since the very first time but it is entertaining to keep on trying, and that’s what happened to me with this outfit. You should go to your closet and bring up to date an old fashion trend you had for a long time, that way you’ll realize how easy it is to mix and match edgy styles for a modern ootd! (Check out another 90s trend completely renovated here) Stay tuned and I promise I’ll have more looks with vintage trends very soon!
